Never got to come here until recently. Whej they first opened, the wait was 2+ hours and this chick ain't about waiting! I prefer to let the hype due down a lil before going.

No wait this time at 5:30! The restaurant was not packed. There were a decent amount of tables whej we were there but never got packed. This may be due to the recent new hot pot openings in flushing. Competition is a fierce little thing ya know!

    Broth
We had the tomato based broth and the mala broth.

Tomato broth was very tomato-y. But it didn't just taste like tomatoes and tomato paste in water. There was some depth to it. May have been garlic and maybe some cheese?

While I love a mala soup base, on this evening the tomato broth trumped the mala broth. The mala broth had heat and numbness but didn't necessarily have flavor.

Tripe was good but we had too much of it. Your supposed to dip for 15 seconds but I think 15 may be too much bc there were times when my tripe was too chewy at 15 sec. Maybe 10 is better?

We also had beef, tofu, shrimp roe, and fish paste along with the usual greens and wood ear and fried tofu skin.

They charge for sauce but the soup base itself is pretty tasty so we skipped the sauce in favor of a more healthy hot pot. Oftentimes, it's all the crap we put in the sauce that makes it so bad for us. And since the tomato broth was good, we kept it relatively healthy.

Staff needs some training because it's very hard to flag them down. They are not present and alert. They don't look around to see if anybody needs anything.

Compared to some hot pot places I've been to recently, I've noticed service here is not as on point. Food is fine. But servuce can definition use an upgrade to keep up with the service that others are providing.

That teddy bear looks at you...
    You think it looks cute
But it's all spicy and it will burn...
As it melts in the hotpot...it says I'll be back
    Oh the heat

The spicy here is extremely spicy. I need something that is a notch below on the heat level. The hot pot here is a la carte. You pick how many items you want from the menu. It's standard process for ordering. We got the food ingredients quite fast. They were all fresh. The reason for not rating this place higher is that nothing was impressive/memorable. The best thing that they got going for the establishment is the decor and location. Great ambiance. They got some entertainment as well with the quick-mask show.

Nice restaurant, love the fact they opened til 2am so that's our late night option and go to place in flushing.

    Pros:
    - nice employee and service
    -clean
    - plenty of choice for sauces and fruit bar
    - good price or portions of food
-love their spicy hotpot (go for 4 peppers)
-highly recommend chicken fish maw hotpot
-parking in the building your you can find free parking nearby after 7

    Cons:
-music could go way too loud in the restaurant
-some seatings are not comfortable you can lean on

I prefer xiang over many other similar hotpot restaurants nearby.

Came to Xiang Hot Pot last Friday for a dinner with 7 friends.  We had a reservation so were seated right away.  The restaurant is big, lots of tables and all were taken.  The quality of the food was good but I didn't feel like there were many options, especially for the vegetarians.  They need a wider selection of green vegetables.  The spicy teddy bear was cute but spicy AF, I could not eat it without coughing.  Do not order this unless you can handle spice and don't mind your mouth going numb!  The vegetarian broth was tasty but salty!  The sauce bar was great and I liked that they offered complimentary edamame, cherry tomatoes and melon.  The music and performance was really loud in the restaurant and we found the big wooden chairs to be cumbersome and uncomfortable.

Service was decent, no complaints as they were pretty quick with filling our pots with broth and water.  Water pitchers flavored with lemon which gets a big thumbs up from me.  Music and performance were way too loud. Thumbs down!

There was a machine that removes odors at the front of the restaurant.  I think it actually worked, we all got a good laugh at standing underneath the mist.

Not the best nor worst hot pot I've had.  Would I return?  Not if I have a choice.  Would rather go to Spring, which is AYCE, and has much more variety!

Interior - traditional Chinese design, SO much room and so many tables. They also have plenty of seating outside for the waiting line, and they offer this machine that blows off the smell after your meal.

Service - pretty good, nothing to complaint about! They speak mandarin.

Taste - delicious!! One of the best hotpots I've had in New York so far. Extremely authentic and not TOO overpriced. The tomato soup base they offer is my favorite, and they got a station for dipping sauce so you can get whatever you like. all of their meat came in decent portion
